I found out recently about the weathered strip app (https://weatheredstrip.com/). I love it. Its totally free and gives you just what you want to know before you go flying.... no fluff.

(This app is not associated with the forum in any way)

Do you have anything better you like to use? I have foreflight but for some reason i still like to use weathered strip.

Hey Chris love the site. I never heard of the Weathered Strip. I checked it out—yeah, it’s simple and does the job without all the extra stuff. I mostly use ForeFlight, but honestly, sometimes it’s just too much when all I want is the weather.

Does anyone else use Weathered Strip, or do you stick with the big apps? What’s your go-to for a quick weather check before flying? Would be good to hear what actually works for people and what’s just overhyped.

Good find! If I was still in training/not using an EFB (like FF) it's probably what I would use, simply yet effective. Like some others here, Foreflight is usually my go-to these days. Then again I've heard of some schools going fully EFB from day 1, definitely have my reservations on that one and topic for another day.

If only AWWS were still around!

Try https://wxbrief.ca/ . Not my site, but I use it daily. Makes the navcanada weather usable again...it's like what AWWS should have become. The author of the site is very responsive at fixing bugs, and it works really nicely. There is also notam.ca (by the same author), which presents NOTAMs in a usable format, including a visual (map based) briefing.

Looks much better than that awful Navcan website. Is there an android app for this? I use Avia Weather on my phone, but I find it's slow getting the latest weather and it doesn't display all the NOTAMs.

There isn't a native app. However, if you browse to wxbrief.ca on your android device, then choose "add to home screen" from the chrome menu, it will create a shortcut on your home screen for the website, and it works pretty much like any other app.

I've been using the American ADDs site to print-out a dozen or so airports Metars and Tafs at a time. It's nice and cleanly printed when you select Metars and Tafs, and works great if your company gives you a re-route.
I truly miss AWWS though, especially the account set-up where you could print a custom weather package for a large region. I can't believe they spent all that time turning something that worked great and was cleanly presented into well... just a hot mess of segmented data that's not printer, mobile or copy/paste friendly.
